SUMMARY:Whistle Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Cost: $55\nLevel: Beginner to Advanced \nIn this workshop our studio artist will teach you the art and technique of creating whistles out of clay. She will guide you through the process of creating the form and then teach you the techniques and tricks of making it whistle! Bring images\, ideas and friends. You may create 1-2 whistles\, and you may not need the entire 3 hours of work time. \nOur handbuilding workshops are a great way to be introduced to clay. The class begins with a demo\, followed by guided instruction. \nThis is a workshop for multiple ages. Children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult. We allow one adult to assist in the making\, then others need to pay for a spot. Your projects will take 3 weeks to be completed\, and you will receive a text or phone call when your projects are finished firing. We hold projects for 1 month and then they disappear from the store.

DESCRIPTION:JSP Members $15 | Non-Members $25 | Registration required (all ages welcome\, children under 13 accompanied by an adult) \nJoin us for a morning of friends and flowers as we learn from artist Courtney Barnes. Courtney owns Evermore Pressed Bouquets and designs jewelry\, framed memories\, and more from pressed flowers. She will guide us in making a dried flower pendant or key chain that participants will take home. These pieces will be filled with resin and cured during the workshop time. You will then tour the Josephine Sculpture Park to source foliage and flowers to practice the art of pressing flowers.

Learn sculpting skills to carve polar bears\, penguins\, seals\, and even an igloo! Students will throw on the pottery wheel to make mugs to hold their warm beverages ready for winter time!\nInstructor: Kaja Jaques \nKids Camp 2: Tour de Clay: Paris June 8-12 Ages 7-12\nDescription: Explore the architectural marvels of Europe with first learning about Paris! Using clay\, campers will build all sorts of pastries and entrees like you were dining in a French bistro. Of course this camp wouldn’t be complete without sculpting the Eiffel Tower and throwing master pieces fit for the Louvre on the pottery wheel.\nInstructor: Kaja Jaques \nCamp 3: Mythical Magic June 15-19 Ages 7-12\nDescription: Inspired by favorite fairytales and fantasy worlds\, campers will become wizards of clay! Create mystical creatures and magical beasts through handbuilding\, then throw enchanted cauldrons on the pottery wheel. This imaginative camp blends skill-building with storytelling for a truly magical clay experience.\nInstructor: Katie Upchurch \nKids Camp 4: Favorite Things in Clay June 22-26 Ages 7-12 Description: Campers will bring their favorite things to life in clay! From sculpting favorite foods to building picture frames and playful finger puppets. Kids will explore both handbuilding and throwing techniques while letting their imagination lead the way. SUMMARY:Handbuilding Workshop: Koi Fish Bowls
DESCRIPTION:Design your own Koi Pond for whatever use you dream of. Craft your own koi to swim among your waterlilies and pond accents. You will then glaze your creation. We will bisque fire your habitat\, and then during the glaze firing we will add glass beads to create magic! \nOur handbuilding workshops are a great way to be introduced to clay. The class begins with a demo\, followed by guided instruction. \nThis is a workshop for multiple ages. Children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult. We allow one adult to assist in the making\, then others need to pay for a spot. \nYour projects will take 3 weeks to be completed\, and you will receive a text or phone call when your projects are finished firing. We hold projects for 1 month and then they disappear from the store.

SUMMARY:Ice cream Sunday Bowls Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Choose between a Waffle Cone Mug with classic waffle cone texture along with drips of ice cream on the rim\, or a Sunday Bowl when one scoop just won’t cut it. Themug can be used for tea and coffee\, but could also be used to serve a delicious ice cream sundae. Your painters can decorate these to match their favorite ice cream flavors and even decorate with fun toppings like jimmies and sprinkles! \nHaven’t painted before? No problem! Our studio artist will guide you through the glazing process with the many colors in the studio. \nThis is a workshop for all ages. Children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult. SUMMARY:Eco-Art Workshop: Making Music with Nature
DESCRIPTION:JSP Members $10 | Non-Members $20 | Registration required (all ages welcome\, children under 13 accompanied by an adult) \nJoin Rhythm Science Sound at the Josephine Sculpture Park as we explore the sonics and music of the natural world. Through Bio-Data Sonification\, a technique of using the bio-electric signals in living organisms and ecologies\, we will create melodies\, tones\, rhythms\, and compose unique musical pieces in collaboration with nature. We will create music alongside plants\, moss\, fungi\, humans\, etc and dive into the cool science of ecology\, bio-electricity\, and sound that this technology makes audible!

Spending time in nature and making art\, both help to reduce stress and explore feelings\, which can be so important for kids\, especially in underserved communities. \nAll ages are welcome for an open art studio in nature. We welcome registration by email to ensure there are plenty of materials available at registration@redoaksforestschool.org.

This is a perfect time to drop your kids off in a safe & enriching environment while you eat dinner downtown or run some errands! \nPottery will be ready for pick up in 2 to 3 weeks\, and you will receive an email or text when finished. \nNote that children need to be able to work on their own\, as it is a drop-off program.
