Through exploration\, students become independent learners who aren’t afraid to freely create and make messy mistakes! Our qualified instructors teach skills that allow students to develop artwork worthy for a portfolio. We will let our favorite things inspire our work in this camp. Come create clay objects that are all about you! (This class will focus mainly on hand building and will not contain wheel thrown aspects of pottery.) \nInstructor: Becky Cunningham was born and raised in Frankfort and attended Georgetown College with a degree in Elementary Education. She received her Master’s in Art Education and currently teaches Art at Elkhorn Elementary. We are excited to have a local art teacher who is inspiring the next generation of sculptors!

BYO chairs\, tables\, pop-ups (need to be staked)\, portable grills\, kiddie pools\, sparkles\, plates\, etc. I’ll have the water tote hooked up and can fill some smaller pools. I’ll also put out one longer table for potluck food. Karaoke to follow in the gym.

DESCRIPTION:FREE FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT!!!\n\nIn partnership with the Team Kentucky Tourism Arts & Heritage Cabinet and the City of Frankfort\, Liberty Hall brings Civic Season to a close with Frankfort’s Fourth of July celebration!\n\nBring a blanket or picnic lunch to enjoy live music\, games\, and American history together as a community. Along with performances by Kentucky Shakespeare and Bill May’s All Stars\, guests can walk the Statehood Trail\, experience our latest exhibit “Conscious Merit & Virtue: Civic Life at Liberty Hall\,” or even cool off with a run through the sprinklers.\n\nFood & drink will be available for purchase\, but feel free to bring your own as we gather in Frankfort’s largest public garden. The event concludes just in time to make it over to Capitol View Park for the fireworks\, generously sponsored by VFW Post 4075.

DESCRIPTION:With a focus on historic crafts\, this half-day camp will let your child explore history and nature in and around downtown Frankfort! Each day camp will have a different theme. The full summer schedule is listed below.June 28th – Ghost Stories!July 1st – Cryptids and Legends!July 10th – Splashin AroundJuly 24th-25th – Nature and ArtJuly 31st – Scavenger HuntsMinimum age is 8 years old. Parents and guardians are welcome to join their children for the duration of the event\, or they can drop off their child.Sign up at https://bit.ly/CCMCampDrop off and pick-up will be at the Capital City Museum. Drop off begins at 8:00 am. Planned activities begin at 8:30 am. Pick-up begins at 11:30\, and concludes at 12:00.The camp is $5 and sponsored by the Capital City Museum.Water\, some snacks\, and restrooms are available on-site.Each child is recommended to bring the following:SunscreenWater/water bottleSnackGood walking shoes.If your child is attending the July 10th camp – Splashin Around\, they should also bring their swimsuit\, a towel\, and a change of clothes.In addition\, if your child has any known allergies to stinging bugs or peanuts\, we recommend providing an Epipen to staff on the day of event. DESCRIPTION:Visit Frankfort invites you to explore the art in public places within the historic downtown area. See and discover our murals and sculptures\, historic architecture\, its stained-glass windows on this guided walking tour. \nThe tour covers a distance of less than one mile and lasts about 60-minutes. Following the tour\, be sure to stop inside the historic Grand Theatre to see the art exhibits in their upstairs gallery. \n$11 per person.  All ages are welcome.  For groups of 10 or more\, please contact us at (502) 875-8687. \nCancellation Policy \nThe walking tour may be cancelled due to inclement weather. Every effort will be made to notify ticket holders in advance. In the case of a cancellation due to weather conditions\, a refund of the tour price\, minus processing fees will be made to the purchaser. \nPurchased tickets may be refunded if cancelled 24 hours or more before the tour date and time. These Frankfort venues offer youth and family programming and are open to the public. \nCheck their websites and/or social media for up to date activities and times. \n\nJosephine Sculpture Park \nExplore nearly 70 works of art throughout 40 acres of native meadows and newly forested areas. Enjoy picnic areas\, native plants\, wildlife habitat and a rotating exhibit of contemporary art that is fun for the entire family. The best part? The Park is FREE to visit\, sunrise to sunset every day of the year. Josephine Sculpture Park also accepts Yes Cards for their paid programs and events. Visit their website to learn more. \n\nPaul Sawyier Public Library \nLocated in downtown Frankfort\, the library offers awesome programming for all ages! \n\nCove Springs Park \nCove Springs has hiking trails\, waterfalls and plenty of space to move. It’s free and open daily. \n\nFrankfort Public Art Tour \nWalk around downtown and find public art on every corner. Use the Visit Frankfort map to find them or explore on your own. \n\nCapital City Museum \nThe Capital City Museum is open Monday through Saturday\, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There’s no admission fee. Exhibits cover a variety of Frankfort history and fun. \n\nDaniel Boone’s Grave \nIt may seem odd to visit a cemetery\, but this is a historic spot! The Frankfort Cemetery overlooks the Kentucky River and the Kentucky State Capitol. \n\nSwitzer Covered Bridge \nIf you need to get outside and explore\, check out Frankfort’s covered bridge. Built by George Hockersmith c.1855\, this historic bridge is 120 ft. long\, 11 ft. wide\, and of Howe truss design.  Each entrance has a saw tooth edge. Rebuilt in 1998\, the bridge is on the National Historic Register. Hours are dawn to dusk. \n\nLeslie Morris Park on Fort Hill \nLeslie Morris Park on Fort Hill features two Civil War earthen forts\, the Sullivan House visitor / interpretive center\, the Gippy Graham picnic pavilion\, a scenic downtown Frankfort overlook and several hiking trails\, paved and natural single track surface. SUMMARY:WET Program: Wednesday Enlightening Trips with Canoe Kentucky
DESCRIPTION:Get your kids unplugged and outdoors this summer! Maybe you cannot commit to a full summer camp\, but CKY: Canoe Kentucky’s WET Program (Wednesday Enlightening Trips) will meet all your needs for getting your kids outside this summer\, and giving you a few hours to get LIFE done!\n\n\nEach of these Wednesday events will meet at the LOWER COVE SPRINGS PARK\, near the waterfall shelter. If you are not familiar with the area\, the park is located on Cove Springs Road in Frankfort Kentucky. These programs will be offered on 7 Wednesdays throughout the summer\, and are open to youth ages 9 – 14 years old. Each program will include an adventure exploring while engaging in a fun environmental education activity. Youth will spend time paddling each program day\, weather permitting. \n\n\nMore information and registration here.\n\n6 HOURS\, NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY\n\nProgram dates are: June 5th\, 12th\, 19th\, 26th and July 10th\, 17th\, and 24th.\nDrop off and check in begins at 8:30 AM.  Programs are from 9 AM  to 3 PM Pick Up.

You will learn about myths of Ancient Egypt and throw on the wheel. \nInstructor: Leah is a gradate of the University of Kentucky’s Communication and Marketing Program where she has an emphasis in the Visual Arts. She has been part of the Broadway Clay community for over two years and currently teaches many of our classes and private lessons.
